- Energy companies are on the cusp of “an epic battle” with technology companies thanks to the inexorable rise of renewable energy and smart home systems, says Citigroup’s global head of energy strategy. - France produced the most power from fossil fuels for the month of September in 32 years to help meet demand as nuclear generation dropped. - China’s economy could grow six-fold by 2050 with renewable energy accounting for 69% of national electricity supply if it transforms its energy system and increases efficiency across all sectors. - The US government launched the largest ever clean energy plant in Arizona, as part of the White House’s bid to drastically increase solar power on a national level. The 150-MW Mesquite 3 solar array will help power California’s electric grid and will contribute one-third of the energy used on 14 naval bases in the state. [Opposing Views]
