- “Climate Change: Greenhouse Gas Concentrations Again Break Records” • Atmospheric concentrations of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases once again reached new highs in 2018. The World Meteorological Organization says the increase in CO₂ was just above the average rise recorded over the last decade, along with other greenhouse gases. [BBC]
- “Renewable Generation In US Is Set To Surpass Coal In 2021 For First Time” • It now seems likely that annual renewable energy generation in 2021 will surpass coal-fired output in the US for the first time. - “Coal: Is This The Beginning Of The End?” • This year looks set to see the largest fall in electricity production from coal on record, according to a report in the online journal Carbon Brief. It is projected to drop by 3% – which is a fall of 300 TWh, based on energy sector data from around the world for the first seven to 10 months of the year. [BBC]
- “BMW Partners With Dairy Farms To Make Renewable Energy” • BMW and Straus Family Creamery are partnering to make electricity generated at the organic dairy farm available for BMW’s EV customers in California.
