Dartmouth Revers Center for Energy: Energy 101: Fundamentals of Power and Gas

The Revers Center for Energy will host a one-day seminar on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, entitled, “Overview of the Energy Industry”. This intensive, introductoryenergy 101 workshop is ideal for students exploring the energy industry and complements other classroom and experiential learning opportunities at Tuck.  There is limited space for 25 students.
 
The workshop will cover: 
  • What natural gas and electricity are and how they work 
  • Users of gas and electricity and their needs 
  • Sources of natural gas 
  • Types of electric generation 
  • How the physical systems transport and distribute gas and electricity 
  • How regulation works and how it affects the various market participants 
  • How gas and electric markets are structured, the roles of market participants, and how participants transact 
  • What the future will look like for gas and electricity
