Sierra Club Executive Director To Speak In Hanover About Nationwide Transition Away From Fossil Fuels To Clean Energy

Hanover, NH. – Sierra Club Executive Director Michael Brune will visit Hanover on Wednesday, April 12 to speak on a panel discussing the nationwide transition away from fossil fuels to 100 percent renewable energy.
Brune’s visit comes ahead of a May 9 vote when Hanover residents will be voting during their town meeting to commit to a goal of 100% renewable energy by 2050. Hanover would be the first town in Upper Valley to bring this to a town vote. If approved, Hanover would represent the first municipality in New Hampshire to make this commitment.
Twenty five cities across the U.S. have committed to a goal of 100% renewable energy, including San Diego and Salt Lake City. Burlington, Vermont is one of six cities in the country to already make the transition to renewable energy and is today being powered entirely with clean energy.

Michael Brune, Executive Director of the Sierra Club, the largest grassroots environmental organization in the country, is visiting Hanover to discuss Hanover’s upcoming town vote to commit to 100% renewable energy. He will also be speaking about the nationwide transition to clean energy and how cities are taking the lead on clean energy and climate action.

Julia Griffin, Town Manager of Hanover, NH, will be speaking about what Hanover has already done to work toward a goal of 100% renewable energy and what they will be doing in the future to support renewable energy and energy efficiency throughout the town. Julia will also be speaking about Hanover’s upcoming May 9th, 2017 vote to commit to 100% renewable energy.
