SolarFest Free Film Screening 11/4 with Deia Schlosberg

SolarFest

Don’t miss the chance to hear directly from the leaders in the fight against climate change!

This Friday, November 4th at 6:30 pm, we are privileged to host Deia Schlosberg, journalist, documentary film director, and producer of How to Let Go of the World and Love all the Things Climate Can’t Change as we present the film at the SVAC in Manchester, VT.  Winner of the National Geographic Adventurer of the Year award in 2009, she also won the Best Documentary Award and the Bricker Humanitarian Award from the Student Emmy Awards in 2014.

On October 11th, Deia was arrested in Wallhala, North Dakota while filming demonstrators shutting down tar sands pipelines. Charged with three felony counts, she now faces up to 45 years in prison. Neil Young, Mark Ruffalo, Daryl Hannah, and other celebrities, in an open letter* to President Obama, call for these charges to be dropped in defense of the First Amendment.

This event is an opportunity for us to gather as a community to learn, share ideas, and discuss our future.

We eagerly look forward to hearing Deia’s insights on the film, directed by Josh Fox, which is a celebration of life and love, showcasing the courage and creativity, resilience and innovation being shown by people from around the world as they address the challenges of climate change.

Doors open at 6:00 pm, with refreshments provided by local sponsors. Deia’s remarks about the film begin at 6:30 sharp, with the 2-hour film beginning at 7:00 pm. Tickets are free, but advance sign-up is appreciated.

Please visit www.SolarFest.org for more information about this film screening on Friday, November 4th, and the beginning of expanded education and arts initiatives leading up to the 2017 Festival.

See you there!
