This past legislative session, Vermont passed a comprehensive energy siting bill (S.260 now called Act 174) that involves communities in Vermont’s plans for renewable energy.
The legislation gives regions and towns across the state the opportunity to get significant say over new energy facilities by creating energy plans detailing how they will contribute to meeting Vermont’s energy goals. The Department of Public Service will be publishing guidelines that those plans must meet. We need your help to ensure that regional and municipal energy plans support our statewide energy goals.
The Department is holding an open meeting to gather input for their guidelines. They need to hear from you about how important our statewide energy goals are and how this process should support those goals.
Here are the details:
When: Tuesday, August 30th from 9:00am-12:00pm
Where: Noble Hall, Vermont College of Fine Arts, Montpelier
