Designed to follow or complement a unit on heat transfer and the conservation of energy, Button Up asks students to consider how they can use less energy to heat their home while still keeping it at a comfortable temperature. VEEP offers two variants of the workshop, one for middle school and one for high school. You can read more about the workshops at VEEP’s website or download a PDF workshop summary sheet.
Middle school classes can follow the Button Up in-class workshop with the new Thermal Energy Extension: Weatherization Design Challenge, an engineering challenge for students to construct the most energy efficient model houses they can. VEEP offers use of a curriculum support kit that includes materials to run the extension.
To schedule a Button Up workshop, contact your local VEEP educator, or info@veep.org or 802-552-VRNG. The Thermal Energy Extension: Weatherization Design Challenge kits can be reserved at the kits page of our website.
